QUARRYVILLE -- The Solanco Fair Baby Parade will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at 7 p.m. at the Solanco Fairgrounds. The Baby Parade is open to any child six years of age and under. Preregistration is required. Entries must be received by Friday, September 12, 2008. Entry blanks may be obtained by emailing Kimberly S. Stoner at babyparade@gmail.com or by phoning 786-0922. No entries will be accepted at the fair office the week of the fair or at the registration table the night of the parade.
Contestants must report to the fairgrounds for registration at 6:00pm. Judging will begin at 6:15pm. In case the Wednesday street parade is cancelled because of rain and is held on Thursday evening, the Baby Parade will be rescheduled for Friday, September 20th at 10:00am with registration at 9:00am and judging at 9:15am.
The Walking Division will have the following classes: Best Imitation of a Nursery Rhyme or Fairytale, Best Characterization, Most Original, Best Team, Girl in Fancy Dress and Best Dressed Boy.
The Vehicle on Wheels Division will have the following classes: Best Carried Out Theme; Nursery Rhyme, Fairytale or Storybook and Miscellaneous.
The Float Division will have the following classes: Floats (over four- foot by four- foot); Best Characterization, and Miscellaneous. Mini Floats (four-foot by four-foot or smaller); Best Carried Out Theme; Nursery Rhyme, Fairytale or Storybook; and Miscellaneous.
All entries must be hand pulled. Trophies and cash prizes will be awarded for the Best of Show is each division.
New for the 2008 Baby Parade is a celebrity judge. This year we are honored to have State Representative, Bryan Cutler join our judges.
